Community Nursing

District Nurses

The District Nurses work in partnership with the GPs and other Health/Social Care professionals, carers and other agencies to provide an individualised holistic care for our patients in their own homes. They can offer nursing care and support to those who require palliative/cancer care, wound management, elderly assessment, vaccinations, injections and other clinical procedures.

The District nurses office can be contacted on 0131 313 5085 where a message can be left. This will be checked between 8:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday.

Health Visitor

Health Visitors are qualified nurses with specialist training in community health. They work primarily with the under 5’s and their families. They work in partnership with local community, other health and social care professionals and voluntary agencies. They also promote and provide health information and support, provide home visiting and involvement in local groups/activities, offer assessment of health needs and information about local services. They can be contacted on 0131 603 0240, Monday to Friday, and you can leave a message if they are not in the office.

Midwives

Pregnant? What Next?

The first thing you should do is call 0131 536 2009 to arrange an appointment with a midwife.

The midwives provide antenatal care before the baby is born and post natal support immediately after delivery. They are not based at the practice but can be contacted via the number above.

The midwives consult at the practice on:-

  • Wednesdays 9.30am – 11.30am – Antenatal Clinic
  • Thursdays 1.30 to 3pm – Booking Clinic
